A performance sports floor system with the resiliency and safety of a floating floor and the stability of an anchored system. This unique combination works well in large field houses and installations with a combination wood and synthetic surfaces. AacerChannel enhances performance in gymnasiums, dance floors and multipurpose rooms.

2.1 - Materials

A. Vapor barrier shall be 6-mil polyethylene.

B. Subfloor- Pre-engineered panels as manufactured by Aacer Flooring, LLC (AacerPanels), consisting of one layer APA rated underlayment with 3/4" AacerFlex Performance Pads attached nominally 12" O.C. and 16 gauge Receiver Channel mechanically attached to AacerPanel.

C. AacerChannels-16 gauge galvanized steel - consisting of one Anchor Channel and one Receiver Channel.

D. Flooring Aacer Maple- 25/32" x 2 1/4" 2nd & Better Grade Northern Hard Maple flooring tongued, grooved and end-matched as manufactured by Aacer Flooring, LLC, graded, marked and stamped in accordance with the standards established by the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA).

Options:

  • Sizes - 25/32" x 1 1/2"; 33/32" x 1 1/2"; and 33/32" x 2 1/4"
  • Grades - First Grade and Third Grade
  • Treating - treat with WOODLIFE F® for a minimum three-minute immersion.
  • Fasteners

1. Anchors - 1 1/4" modified steel drivepins (900 lbs. pull out strength).
2. Flooring fasteners shall be 2" barbed cleats or coated staples.

E. Wall base shall be 3" x 4" molded vent cove base.

3.1 - Pre-Installation Inspection

A. Floor installer shall verify slab tolerance of concrete and report any corrections to General Contractor and Architects in writing. Room shall be broom cleaned and free of any foreign material.

B. Floor installer shall document site and working conditions prior to and during installation. This documentation shall become a part of any warranty and may or may not affect fulfillment of any warranty.

3.2 - Installation

A. Cover entire slab with 6-mil polyethylene, sealing and lapping joints a minimum of 6".

B. Subfloor

1. AacerPanel shall be laid perpendicular to finish flooring using "stairstep" method. Each row shall be secured with Aacer Anchor Channel. Aacer Anchor Channel shall be attached to concrete substrate using modified steel drivepins 14" O.C. apart and 3" from ends.

Options:

  • AacerPanels can be laid at a 45 degree angle to flooring using "stair step" method.

2. AacerChannels shall be laid out so as to avoid any butt joints between Receiver Channel and Anchor Channel using 2' - 4' - 6' - 8' and 1' - 3' - 5' - 7' patterns and offset accordingly.

C. Aacer Maple Flooring

1. Install Aacer maple flooring parallel with the long dimension of room. Flooring shall be power nailed or stapled every 10" to 12" with all end joints properly driven tight (approximately 5.33 attachments per square foot).

2. Expansion joints may be required between flooring strips intermittently throughout the floor. Requirements will be determined by site and geographical conditions.

3. Provide a 2" expansion void at all walls and permanent obstructions.

3.3 - Floor Sanding

A. Machine sand entire floor with coarse, medium and fine paper to a smooth and uniform surface, free from edger marks and drum drops.

B. Remove all sanding dust and lint from entire surface by vacuum and/or tack.

3.4 - Finishing and Gamelines

A. Inspect entire floor to be sure surface is able to accept seal/finish. Floor should be free from dust and debris.

B. Apply two coats of Aacer seal and two coats of Aacer finish per manufacturer's label instructions.

C. Floor shall be buffed, cleaned and tacked between coats.

D. Gamelines- apply game lines and logos as indicated by drawings. Paint shall be compatible with Aacer finish.

3.5 - Base Installation

A. Install maple perimeter molding at wall. Mitre all joints at 45° angles and double nail corners carefully. Nail securely into blocking or last board.

3.6 - Documentation

A. Provide job condition documentation to owner with any warranties.
